The WSU Leading Economic Indicators Index increased each month during second quarter, but was still 2.2 percent lower than first quarter and 6.6 percent lower than second quarter 2009. Indicators experiencing a decline in second quarter were the value of new orders for aircraft and parts, the Aerospace Stock Index and the price of wheat, all of which were adjusted for inflation. The continuing inconstancy of Index indicators prevents a growth trend from developing. Consequently, the Index does not give a clear picture of recovery for the Wichita area through the rest of this year. Read more about the second quarter Leading Index.
