The WSU Current Conditions Index has had a good year so far in 2011. From December 2010 through April of this year, the Index grew 2.1 percent. That growth is attributable to a 13.7 percent increase in the seasonally adjusted volume of airfreight shipments at Mid-Continent Airport, an 8.6 percent increase in seasonally adjusted home sales, a 2 percent increase in seasonally adjusted nonfarm wage and salary employment, a 1.9 percent increase in Wichita’s seasonally adjusted hotel occupancy rate and a 0.6 percent decrease in Wichita’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate.
