The WSU Leading Economic Indicators Index has had a good year in 2011, increasing 3.5 percent from December 2010 through April. Over that time period, all of the Index indicators showed improvement, except the number of hours worked in manufacturing in the Wichita MSA, which declined only 0.2 percent. With this many leading indicators doing well, the Wichita economy can be expected to do well the rest of this year, unless unexpected shocks to the economy occur.
