The October WSU Current Conditions Index is down 0.1 percent from September, and current economic activity is 0.4 percent higher than it was in October 2012. The current decrease in economic activity can be attributed to the deterioration of two index components. The hours and earnings of production employees have decreased 2.4 percent and 1.3 percent, respectively. However, these decreases have been partially offset by a slight improvement in total nonfarm employment.
