Four industries accounted for 60.2 percent of unemployment insurance beneficiaries in the Wichita area in the third quarter: manufacturing, administrative and support and waste management and remediation services, health care and social assistance, and construction. There was an increase of 505 unemployment beneficiaries in the manufacturing industry in the third quarter, offsetting the decrease of 603 beneficiaries in the second quarter. The second and third highest change in number of beneficiaries from second to third quarter occurred in the other industries category, which primarily consists of various types of government workers, and in the wholesale trade industry, respectively. More information is available in a revised CEDBR report about the industries from which unemployment beneficiaries were separated in third quarter 2013.
