Four industries accounted for 67.4 percent of unemployment insurance beneficiaries in the Wichita area in first quarter 2014: manufacturing, construction, administrative and support and waste management and remediation services, as well as retail trade. Of these four industries, construction was the only one that had an increase in unemployment insurance beneficiaries from fourth quarter 2013 to first quarter 2014. Manufacturing had the largest decrease of 696 beneficiaries.
