According to the results of the latest WSU Index of Consumer Expectations, 45 percent of consumers reported plans to purchase costumes or makeup, 68 percent plan to purchase Halloween candy, 27 percent plan to purchase Halloween decorations, 9 percent plan to purchase Halloween greeting cards, and 20 percent plan to purchase Halloween party supplies. "While only 26 percent of respondents said they plan to take children trick or treating, the overwhelming majority plan to have candy on hand if little ghosts and goblins show up at the door," said Janet Harrah, director of the Center for Economic Development and Business Research at Wichita State University.
